It was a gorgeous spring day that Zainab and Bilal were set to get married on the stunning grounds of Nunsmere Hall in Cheshire.
Zainab had chosen soft pink decor for her marquee wedding set on the stunning lakeside of Nunsmere Hall. Bride Zainab looked stunning in her traditional red toned lehnga from Burooj and groom Bilal complemented her beautifully.
After photographing Aisha’s and Yusuf’s wedding the previous year, I was so honoured Zainab (Yusuf’s sister), booked me to photograph hers. I’m very blessed that ost of my work comes through referrals.
The moment Zainab’s mum walked into her room she started to cry, a typical mum reaction seeing her beautiful daughter all grown up. Zainab’s grandmother was the cutest, the way she doted on Zainab and Bilal was evident, I think she was the proudest person in the room.
Weddings are places you tend to bump into people and it’s lovely to see familiar faces, so here’s a funny story-My mother tongue is an Indian dialect ‘kutchi, (a bit like sindhi),not many people will have come across. Whilst I’m fairly fluent in Urdu and Gujarati, it’s nice to be able to speak in my own language. So it turned out that Bilal’s family also spoke kutchi, so whilst everyone was milling around excitable after arriving at the venue I spoke rather loudly in kutchi to get everyone’s attention.
So after we managed to take some group photographs, Bilal’s aunt approached me asking lots of questions about my background, where I was from etc and I said “Aunty I moved from London and don’t know many families in Manchester”. Then her sister came upto me and said “Yep we definately know you, I met you last year at so and so’s wedding in Toronto, Canada”. So it turns out that the world really is a small place and they did know my family haha and were kind of related to me in a really long distant way!
Even though it was a cold day and the winter cold hadn’t quite left us we managed to get some lovely portraits on the grounds of Nunsmere Hall.
Here are some of my favourites from the day.
